A note of sorrow: Bro Gifford “Cliff” White, a long-time member of Abilene Lodge 559, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019. His family has requested a Masonic graveside service, and also that he have brother Masons serve as pallbearers.

Bro. White’s service will be 10:00am Friday, January 25 at North’s Memorial Chapel (242 Orange Street) with burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Services for Bro William R. Page

William R. Page (born May 19, 1926) was called from labor January 4, 2019. Brother Page was a 60 year member of Hondo City Lodge 756 AF & AM. Funeral services will be conducted in Odessa.  Masonic Graveside Services have been requested by the family, and will be conducted at Hamlin Cemetery 2 pm, Wednesday, January 9th.  If you can assist, please call Bro Rick Trogden at (325) 668-4724. Brethren will meet at the Hamlin Cemetery at 1:30 pm.  Clergy will provide a short graveside service (military honors have been requested), followed by Masonic Services.

We have been notified that Brother William R. Page, a 50-year Mason from Hondo City Lodge No. 756 has passed away. Masonic graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 2:00pm at Hamlin Cemetery in Hamlin, TX. Bro Rick Trogden (SW of Lawn Lodge 1230) will be the Service Master, and has asked for our assistance. Please reach out to him for more information. If you are able to assist, please plan to be at Hamlin Cemetery at 1:30pm on Wednesday.

January Stated Meeting Tonight

This is a reminder that our Stated Meeting will be tonight at 7:30pm, with a meal at 6:30pm.

It won’t be too long of an agenda this month:

– We will be discussing one of the recommendations that the Finance Committee brought up at our last meeting.
– We will be setting a date and degree team for an upcoming Masters Degree.
– We also need to assign a Committee on Arrears – you know the rule, if you’re not present, you’re likely to be volunteered…
– We will be discussing plans for our Service Awards / Widows Banquet on February 16.

There will be more, so please plan to attend!

Stated Meeting TONIGHT

This is a reminder that our Stated Meeting will be tonight at 7:30pm, with a meal at 6:30pm.

We will have a good bit of work to do:
– We are expecting to hear two proficiency examinations.
– The Finance Committee is expected to make a report.
– The Awards Committee will be presenting their recommendation for Our 2018 Community Builder Award.
– Our Thanksgiving Dinner was a success, but it is already time to begin planning for our Widow’s Banquet in February.
– We have also received a list of resolutions for the 2019 Grand Communication, which can be found on the Grand Lodge website. Please familiarize yourself with these so that they can be discussed.

There will be more, so please plan to attend!

No Floor School Tonight

This being both the 5th Wednesday of October and Halloween, we will NOT have floor school tonight. Enjoy your time with friends and family, be safe, and we will see you all tomorrow night for Stated Meeting.

Thanksgiving Dinner – Saturday, Nov 17

Abilene Lodge 559 will be holding its Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 17 from 4pm-6pm. Letters and tickets to the dinner were sent out last week with some errors, so please note the correct date and time.

Anyone who would like is encouraged to use our new online payment portal to purchase their tickets. Simply go to abilene559.com/portal and select “Donate”. Tickets are $5 each, or $20 for 5.

Please plan on attending – all are welcome!

MM Degree TONIGHT!

Brethren, we will have a called meeting this evening to hear a FC proficiency, and we expect to confer a Master’s Degree immediately following. Please come to show your support!
We will serve light refreshment at 6:00pm, with the meeting starting at 6:30pm.

John Armistead’s wife has passed away

Teiko Armistead, the wife of Bro. John Armistead, PM has passed away after serious health complications that began early last week.

Bro. Armistead is a Past Master of Abilene Lodge 559. Many of us have had the opportunity to get to know Teiko, and our sincerest sympathies and prayers go out to John and his family.

Services will be held tomorrow, October 11 at 1pm at First Central Presbyterian, 400 Orange St, Abilene, TX 79601.
